With the sun shining on a beautiful Mt Fuji, I shot one of the best rounds of my career to date in the final round of the Sumitomo Visa Taihaio Masters on Sunday. We had an early start to finish our incomplete 3rd rounds and I was a little bit rusty as we played the last 3 holes, registering a bogey and 2 pars. Thing's didn't get much better for the first 8 holes of the final round and I found myself 2 over par after a double bogey on the 14th hole ( we started on the back nine) I hit a nice drive down the fairway at the signature 18th hole and a six iron to 3 feet for a tap in eagle and all of a sudden my spirits lifted and my golf got hot! I then birdied 1,2 and 3 before 3 more birdies on 5,6,and 7 for a back nine of 30 and 8 under for the last 10 holes! My round of 66 was the best of the day by 2 shots and lifted me from 40th place into the top 10. The result was great for me and my ranking is secure for next years tour, which is a great relief!. We now head to Miyazaki for the Dunlop Phoenix, the Japan Tour's biggest tournament and I'm carrying a lot of confidence after 2 top 10's in a row. I'll be trying my best for another solid result, who knows, maybe even a win is coming! Cheers, Wayne. |
